Country Timeline (30 points)

  • Due Wednesday, 11/28/07
  • Social Studies Department Countries of the World Research Project Website: http://www.farragut.cps.k12.il.us/depts/country.html.
  • Complete the Countries of the World Research Project Timeline Assignment. Make sure your timeline meets the following requirements:
    • 15 events from your country on a timeline (a line that reads left to right)
      • An event is, basically, something that happened, not a time period. So, if you want to include a war, use an event from the beginning, middle, or end. Instead of “The Spanish Civil War occurred from 1936 to 1939,” your event would look like, “In 1939, the Spanish Civil War ended after four years of fighting between the Republic and the Nationalists, who won the war and whose leader, Franco, became dictator of Spain.”
    • Events in chronological order
      • For example, January 2007 comes before August 2007.
    • Events appropriately-spaced
      • For example, 1900 CE should be closer to 1910 CE than 1500 CE.
    • Each event in a full sentence with the date
      • For example: “On October 8, 1871, the Great Fire of Chicago began and, after three days of burning, left 90,000 people homeless and caused $200 million in property damage.”
